The Center for Sustainable Practices
Allen House - Vermont Technical College
Randolph Center, Vermont
The Allen House at VTC is a Federal style brick structure built in 1826. Northern Architects is preparing a design to restore and renovate the 4000+ SF building including a new 950 SF addition. The newly renovated facility will become the home of the Center for Sustainable Practices at VTC. The Allen House, which is on the State Register of Historic Places will receive extensive structural rehab, restoration of the exterior brick and windows, reconstruction of historical chimneys and complete upgrade of heating, plumbing and electrical systems. The interior will be carefully renovated to maintain the historic plaster and
wood trim as well as retaining the original room layouts. This project, located at the gateway to the VTC campus is being designed to achieve LEED certification
and will be an example of VTC’s commitment to sustainable design while helping to preserve the historic character of Randolph Center.
