Mercy Hall
University of Vermont
Burlington, VT
Mercy Hall was recently placed back into service as a residence hall after FAHC used the building for years as an office building. In the Spring/Summer
of 2005, UVM quickly readied the building for students by installing a code required sprinkler system so the dorm could be occupied as a residence hall in the Fall of 2005. In January 2006, UVM hired Northern Architects to complete the renovations that were required to make the building an ADA and code compliant residence hall. This included renovations to the shower/toilet rooms
on each floor, installation of carbon monoxide detection system, upgrade of
the fire detection and alarm system, the addition of a new elevator tower at the south end of the building, a complete renovation of the main lobby and front desk, a mail distribution center for the Trinity Campus and a new game room and student lounge. Construction documents were completed on schedule by mid-May 2006 and construction began the final week of May and was substantitally complete for the return of students near the end August 2006.
The project was completed on budget with additional features.
