McAuley Square Elder Housing

Northern Architects was retained by Housing Vermont to design a fifty-five unit apartment building that would provide a large number of housing options for a senior population. The project is comprised of one and two bedroom units, both types to be leased at subsidized as well as market rate. In addition to the apartments, the building also houses common spaces such a library, game room and dinning room designed to facilitate tenant interaction. The building footprint is configured to follow the edge of an embankment at the rear of the site, and to create a welcoming space at the front of the building. The scale of the building as well as the exterior materials are intended to harmonize with the surrounding neighborhood.
