Hinesburg Elementary School
Hinesburg, VT
The White Building, built in 1914 as the High School, had gradually fallen into disrepair since construction of the new Union High School. Northern Architects examined the feasibility of renovating the building, and after comparing new construction and renovation costs, the school directors elected to renovate the building and connect it to the adjacent Elementary School. The project includes classrooms and a multipurpose room. An elevator addition provides access for persons with disabilities to all spaces. New electrical, mechanical, and fire alarm systems serve the entire building. The renovation was completed in 1992, at about sixty percent of the cost of new construction.
